Web-Only! This easy-to-grow hybrid of two gesneriad genera, Achimenes and Smithiantha, has proven to be a very good performer in our trials. Emerging in June, the fuzzy red stems are adorned with equally fuzzy bronze-purple leaves. Starting in early September and continuing until frost, the slowly spreading clumps are topped with 2" purple-violet (RHS 81A) flowers, each with a large white throat. We find A.
