Sedum 'Black Jack' is a 2004 introduction by Michigan's Walters Gardens from a mutation found in a field of S. 'Matrona' by Jerry van der Kolk. The difference is that the stems and foliage are dramatically darker black-purple than S. 'Matrona'. Sedum 'Black Jack' makes an equally robust 2' tall clump of purple stems holding the black-purple foliage. In September, the large 8" flower heads of pink provide a nice contrast.
