(aka: Clematis xbonstedtii) This unique Bill Barnes hybrid, between the Japanese C. stans and the Chinese C. heracleifolia, has proved to be a real star in our garden trials. Both parents are non-climbing, 5' long perennials, and their offspring maintain the same habit...let's call it rigidly lax. For us, these hybrids are clothed with attractive, dark green, tripartite (three-lobed) foliage and then topped, beginning in early July, with long, terminal flower stalks. Each stalk bears several whorls of flowers...a dozen small bells each. The individual flowers are white on the outside, opening with recurved petals of dark lavender-blue. This is a superbly easy-to-grow and floriferous clematis that is perfect for the semi-shade to part-sun garden. Pot size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml)
