From 12,000' elevation in the popular vacation spot of Kashmir (and surrounding India and Tibet) comes a delightful but little-known clematis. Perhaps it's little known since the Tibetans burned it and then used the remains to cure indigestion and dysentery. When not on fire, the lacy glaucous-green foliage (similar to C. tangutica) adorns the 8' tall vine, laden from midsummer until fall with golden yellow bells. Each wide flaring bell with upturned tips is often highlighted by brown specks. We think you will really like growing it as an ornamental, but beware of Tibetans bearing matches.
